knife of dreams

Knife of Dreams is the 11th book of the series, and the last book to be published while Jordan was alive. The story picks up considerably in this book, and many fans hailed it as a great book. In fact, I think each book of the Wheel of Time is a great book. Although, I understand what they are referencing from the last book of the series.

Mat has escaped Ebou Dar, and is traveling through Altara with the kidnapped Daughter of the Nine Moons. The scene is almost laughable when you consider that they are traveling with a circus show. All through their traveling they are being hunted by the Seanchan Empire, because of the Daughter of the Nine Moons. This is a interesting development in the story, because of the prophecy that was foretold in the earlier books of Mat meeting the so called Daughter of the Nine Moons. I won’t give you the spoiler, but lets say something shocking happens to Mat, and the Daughter of the Nine Moons. And it is shocking considering that it is Mat, after all.

Perrin still seeks to save his wife from the Shaido. There is a high possibility he may be able to rescue her with the alliance of a forbidden force. Will he be able to make that deal for the good of his wife, and others that have been taken captive with her. Perrin suffers anguish of heart over his wife’s captivity, and also suffers betrayal by a loyal companion.

Egwene’s siege against the White Tower did not go as she had plan, but will she be able to make the best of the situation for the good of the White Tower itself?

Elayne still struggles to keep her place on the Lion Throne, but there are dark forces that lurk nearby. Will she be able to succeed?

Rand seeks a meeting with the Daughter of the Nine Moons. He is unaware that she is with Mat. He visits her in a secluded spot only to find out that it is not her after all, and he doesn’t leave the meeting unchanged.

Prophecies of the book:

1.  The sweetness of victory and the bitterness of defeat are alike a knife of dreams.
