In 2009 and 2010 there were announcements by EA Games, Obsidion, and Red Eagle Entertainment of future video games to be released onto the xbox, playstation, and pc formats. As of this time there is no further news on that. However, Recently, there was a tv pilot aired in the wee hours of the morning produced by Red Eagle Entertainment, who has the film rights to the Wheel of Time. Rumours say that their time limit to the film rights were almost expired. In order to forestall this they must release a film version of the books. And this is what they released….the tv pilot is based off the first book, The Eye of the World, interpreting events in the prologue dealing with Lews Therin’s madness. The name of the tv pilot is Winter Dragon.

I desire greatly for the Wheel of Time series to come to a larger audience through television, whether that is through films, or a television series like George R R Martins, Game of Thrones. Especially if HBO could do it. In 2000, Jordan gave an interview on CNN.com stating that NBC purchased an option to do a miniseries of The Eye of the World. Unfortunately, that deal fell through, and didn’t come to fruition. In 2008 it was announced that Universal Pictures would adapt The Eye of the World as a film with the possibility of the other books.

As much as I hate to wait, it seems I must, because as of now there is no further news on these possibilities. Hopefully, they haven’t all fell through completely. I do believe that one day they will come to the big screen. I do eagerly await that day. And it is a wait.
